AUSTIN, Texas -- They've all competed admirably for The University of Texas in everything from Football to Rowing, and boast majors like Aerospace Engineering and Finance. Now, they can also call themselves college graduates.

Thirty current and former UT student-athletes are projected to graduate in December 2009, and some will participate in commencement exercises on the Forty Acres throughout the weekend.

"We celebrate as another group of young adults have successfully balanced heavy athletic schedules and academic responsibilities," UT Men's Athletics Director DeLoss Dodds said. "They leave The University of Texas with diploma in hand -- ready to tackle life after college. This is a proud day for all of us."

Said Women's Athletics Director Chris Plonsky: "These student-athletes are able to now say they are graduates of The University of Texas, and that fact -- and all it represents -- will pay dividends for them immediately. They have all represented The University well, and all of us take pride in their accomplishments."
