Nov. 30, 2011

AUSTIN, Texas -- Texas Volleyball's opening round matches of the 2011 NCAA Division I Championship will air exclusively on Longhorn Network, starting this Friday, Dec. 2. Matches will be held at Gregory Gymnasium on The University of Texas campus. UT is hosting the tournament for the eighth straight season.

LHN will televise the live match between No. 1-seeded Texas vs. Texas State on Friday, Dec. 2 at 7 p.m. Central. If the Horns win, the network will air the second round match on Saturday, Dec. 3 at 7 p.m. Central between Texas and the winner of the Michigan State vs. Arizona matchup. The matches will also be available to Verizon FiOS subscribers live via LonghornNetwork.com.

Mark Followill, voice of the Dallas Mavericks, will do play-by-play for the matches, and Kelli Tennant of ESPNU will serve as analyst.

The fifth-ranked Texas Volleyball team is making its 28th NCAA tournament appearance. Texas (22-4, 15-1 Big 12) earned the No. 1 overall seed in the tournament. This marks the first time that Texas has received the top seed in the tourney since the NCAA began seeding the top 16 teams. The Texas Volleyball team recently earned eight Big 12 honors, with sophomore outside hitter Bailey Webster earning Big 12 Player of the Year.

Jerritt Elliott, UT head volleyball coach and Big 12 Coach of the Year, said, "Having the Longhorn Network's coverage this season has helped us take an important step toward elevating our program to another level. We are very excited about LHN's enthusiasm about our program and we are thrilled that their coverage will continue this week as we begin our NCAA Championship run."
