Men's Basketball picked first in Big 12 Preseason Coaches Poll
DALLAS, Texas -- The University of Texas men's basketball team is picked to win the Big 12 Conference in a preseason vote of the league coaches, the conference office announced today. The Longhorns received 10 of 12 possible first-place votes and amassed 120 total points. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own teams. Oklahoma earned the other two first-place votes and was picked second with 112 points. Kansas (89), Oklahoma State (84) and Texas Tech (80) rounded out the top five in the poll. This marks the first time in the 10-year history of the Big 12 Conference that UT has been tabbed the preseason favorite to win the league title. Texas was picked second in the preseason conference poll in 1999-2000 and 2003-04. The preseason All-Big 12 team will be announced on Monday, Oct. 17, two days prior to the Big 12 Basketball Media Days, scheduled for Oct. 19-20 in Dallas. 2005-06 Big 12 Men's Basketball Preseason Coaches Poll |
