AUSTIN, Texas -- The University of Texas finished sixth in the final 2011-12 Learfield Sports Directors' Cup Division I standings, the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) announced this week.

UT has now recorded a Top 10 finish 14 times in the 19-year history of the Directors' Cup: 2nd (2001-02, 2002-03 and 2004-05), 3rd (2005-06), 4th (1995-96), 5th (2007-08), 6th (2008-09 and 2011-12), 7th (1993-94 and 1996-97), 8th (2006-07), 9th (1999-2000) and 10th (1994-95 and 2003-04).

The Learfield Sports Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between NACDA and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in up to 20 sports - 10 women's and 10 men's. Texas scored in eight men's sports and 10 women's sports during the 2011-12 season.

Stanford University won the Cup with 1,448.25 points and was followed in the top five by Florida (1,314.00), UCLA (1,142.75), Ohio State (1,104.25) and Florida State (1,061.00). The Longhorns placed sixth with 1,032.50 points and ranked as the top team in the Big 12 Conference.

Texas won the men's golf national championship (46th all-time NCAA Championship team title and 49th overall National Championship in school history) and registered four Top Five, nine Top 10 and 12 Top 25 NCAA Championship finishes.

UT recorded Top Five NCAA performances in men's golf (NCAA Champion), men's swimming and diving (second), women's indoor track and field (fourth) and women's volleyball (tied for fifth).

The Longhorns added a Top 10 finish in men's indoor track and field (seventh), women's swimming and diving (ninth), softball (tied for ninth), women's tennis (tied for ninth) and men's outdoor track and field (tied for ninth) and posted Top 25 finishes in men's cross country (11th), women's outdoor track and field (11th) and women's golf (tied for 13th).

Texas also received points in the Directors' Cup standings from women's cross country (26th), football (26th in FBS), women's soccer (tied for 33rd), men's basketball (tied for 33rd), women's basketball (tied for 33rd) and men's tennis (tied for 33rd).
