Folan receives Frank Kara Leadership Award
AUSTIN, Texas -- The National Association for Athletics Compliance (NAAC) awarded Amy Folan, an associate athletics director for compliance at The University of Texas, its 2008 Frank Kara Leadership Award at the 2008 NAAC Convention held June 8-9 in Dallas.
The NAACís most prestigious honor, the Frank Kara Leadership Award recognizes athletics compliance officers who demonstrate outstanding leadership in their field.†Folan was instrumental in initiating and supporting the restructuring of the NAAC, formerly known as the National Association for Athletics Compliance Coordinators, and for extending the influence of NAAC with other key stakeholders within intercollegiate athletics.
Under Folanís guidance, Austin was selected as the host site of the 2007 NAAC Convention, and The University of Texas served as the major sponsor of the event.
The Frank Kara Leadership Award is named after former University of Minnesota Director of Compliance Frank Kara, who lost his battle with cancer at the age of 40.†Kara played an integral role in creating the annual NAAC convention, which Minnesota hosted in 2006.
