Bid on unique Texas Athletics fan experiences
May 24, 2010
Texas Athletics official online auctions As part of the 18th Annual Neighborhood Longhorns Program (NLP) Celebrity Golf Classic, a tribute dinner is held to honor an individual who has made a significant contribution to the Austin community. This year, the NLP will honor all of The University of Texas Big 12 Championship head coaches from the 2009-10 season. Honorees include Mack Brown (Football), Michael Center (Tennis), Connie Clark (Softball), Jerritt Elliott (Volleyball), Carie Graves (Rowing), Augie Garrido (Baseball), Eddie Reese (Swimming) and Matt Scoggin (Diving). Each of the head coaches has donated a unique athletic team "experience," as well as the opportunity to dine with the head coach at the tribute dinner, as an auction item. All proceeds will benefit the Neighborhood Longhorns Program, established in 1991 by UT Intercollegiate Athletics for Men and Women as an educational incentive program operated in partnership with the Austin Independent School District (AISD) in 30 Title 1 elementary and middle schools. The tribute dinner is held on Tuesday evening, June 8, at Barton Creek Resort & Spa, in conjunction with the Neighborhood Longhorns Celebrity Golf Classic the following day. The golf tournament features 40 celebrity players, including UT head coaches. The morning group will have a 7 a.m. breakfast, followed by an 8 a.m. shotgun start, and the afternoon group has an 11 a.m. luncheon and a 1 p.m. shotgun. Four-person teams cost $1,875, and this includes eight (8) tickets to the June 8 dinner. Each team will play with a celebrity/VIP in a scramble format with prizes awarded to the first three low-gross teams.
