Weekend traffic delays anticipated on UT campus
May 19, 2011
• UT Austin official commencement page AUSTIN, Texas -- Texas Longhorns fans heading to campus this weekend should carefully plan their travel, as The University is hosting many events that will create extra congestion and traffic delays on and around the Forty Acres. The heaviest of traffic delays is expected at MLK and Red River on Friday and Saturday as pedestrians will be making their way to graduation commencement exercises at the Frank Erwin Center. In addition, TxDOT has sent notification that construction at the I-35 and Ben White interchange will shut down highway traffic. The main lanes of the interstate will be closed in two stages, with the northbound lanes detoured to the frontage roads beginning Friday at 8 p.m. and the southbound lanes on Saturday evening. TxDOT will waive tolls on all of Texas 130, and on the portions of Texas 45 Southeast and Texas 45 North that lie east of I-35 this weekend. EVENTS ON THE UT CAMPUS Saturday |
