AUSTIN, Texas -- The University of Texas Department of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women will host the 36th Annual Awards Presentation at the Bass Concert Hall, Texas Performing Arts Center on Tuesday, April 27.
The presentation honors the athletic excellence of the 2009-10 student-athletes and teams. It also features seven "Awards of the Highest Honor," including Longhorn Team of the Year and Longhorn of the Year.
The night will begin with heavy hors d'oeuvres at 5 p.m., and the awards program will begin at 6:30 p.m. Various awards will be presented throughout the evening, such as the Coca-Cola Solid Citizen Award, given to a female student-athlete for outstanding community service and volunteerism, the UnitedHealth Care Jamie Carey Comeback Award, given to a female student-athlete who has battled through adversity to return to competition and the Jill Sterkel Leadership Award, bestowed to a student-athlete who exhibits supreme leadership, competitiveness and graciousness.
Name tags serve as tickets and seating guides can be picked up in the lobby at the event. Attire is business/evening wear, and catering will be provided by Texas Union Catering.
Bass Concert Hall is located directly north of Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium at 2350 Robert Dedman Drive. Parking is available in the Manor Parking Garage at 2017 Robert Dedman Drive.
