Academic services hosts 'After Texas'

April 3, 2012

On Tuesday, March 27, UT Athletics academic services hosted "After Texas," an event geared toward advising upperclassmen in their transition from college graduate to professional.

AFTER Texas

Four featured guests, a mixture of campus leaders and outside professionals, sat on a panel that enlightened the student-athletes on how to navigate the career search process.

The panel advised the upcoming graduates to access resources, to network and to brand themselves properly.

"The big takeaway from tonight was just to be positive and to be confident," said Adam Wennerstrom of the Men's Golf team. "It's good to hear that and to be reminded of that, especially in this time crunch of finding a job."

Wennerstrom is set to graduate in May with a degree in geography and minor in business.

Chalonda Goodman, a women's track and field junior said this was a helpful event that she wished she could attend every semester.

"It's just a good reminder to have a plan," Goodman said. "As you prepare to look for jobs, you need to research companies and also network with people in those fields."
