Fans explore Red McCombs Red Zone at Darrell K Royal - Texas Memorial Stadium
March 7, 2009
AUSTIN, Texas -- The University of Texas hosted its 10th annual Explore UT event on Saturday, and the day also offered campus visitors a unique opportunity to experience the Red McCombs Red Zone, located on the north end of Darrell K Royal – Texas Memorial Stadium.
Upon entering the Red Zone Food Court, visitors encountered Earl Campbell, Kevin Durant, Ricky Williams, Cat Osterman, Huston Street and Vince Young –- or, actually, their life-size photo renderings. Fans stopped to take photographs with those former UT standouts, as well as Big Bertha, which was also on display in the food court.
Children and their families also ventured out to the stadium field and took photos on the turf. Many of the Longhorns’ coveted trophies were also available for viewing, such as the 1969 Orange Bowl trophy and the trophy from the 2002 men’s swimming and diving national championship.
The UT Athletics experience was just one part in almost 400 events and activities happening all across the campus. Explore UT is a day of events, performances, exhibits, lectures and hands-on activities for the entire family.
