Longhorn Network update from the Athletics Directors
Feb. 9, 2012
Since our Longhorn Network (LHN) launch in August, delays in distribution have overshadowed the network's many positive aspects and impact. In order to make LHN successful, we hope our fans understand that ESPN is continuously negotiating with all major television cable and satellite service providers. ESPN has done this before, having previously launched seven other networks, and their professionals are considered television industry leaders. We ask our fans for their patience and understanding. Distribution will happen, but the business negotiation process is painfully slow. Our coaches and student-athletes are ecstatic with LHN, and they tell us it is helping in recruiting now and will do so in the future. ESPN is completely devoted to LHN, and the LHN programming is exactly what fans have come to expect from all ESPN products. Such quality high definition programming demands that we show as many events as possible live and in their entirety. We are grateful for your ongoing loyalty and presence when the Longhorns compete at home and on the road, as we also appreciate those who provide support by following us on television across the country. Thanks for your continued support, |
