Baseball's Alumni Game kicks off Longhorn Network spring season

Jan. 26, 2012

Longhorn Network's spring slate of Texas Baseball and Softball coverage commences in a big way with the annual Baseball Alumni Game on Saturday, Jan. 28. Former Longhorns Roger Clemens, Huston Street, Drew Stubbs, Brandon Belt, James Russell and others will be coached by Clemens and Brooks Kieschnick, two-time National Player of the Year at UT in 1992-93 and the first inductee to the College Baseball Hall Of Fame.

Clemens is scheduled to pitch the first inning for the Texas Exes. First pitch is 1:30 p.m.

This spring, LHN is set to exclusively televise 32 games featuring Texas Baseball and 30 games of Texas Softball, which has appeared in the NCAA Women's College World Series on four occasions.

The games, stretching from January through May, comprise more than 124 hours of live event programming for the 24/7 University of Texas network.

Baseball opens its regular-season slate with a three-game series against Duke. In late March, the Longhorns face California from the Dell Diamond in Round Rock, Texas. LHN will also televise the last conference rivalry game vs. Texas A&M before closing out the season with a home series against Baylor.

Kevin Dunn and Carter Blackburn, college sports commentator for ESPN, will handle play-by-play duties for the network, and former UT great and 17-year Major League veteran Greg Swindell will serve as analyst.

In addition, Texas GameDay hosted by Lowell Galindo from UFCU Disch-Falk Field provides comprehensive pregame coverage of seven games including interviews with players and coaches, analysis and features. Beginning in March, legendary Texas coach Augie Garrido hosts a weekly 30-minute coach's show from Longhorn Network's Austin studio.
