University of Texas student-athletes have compiled an impressive list of academic accolades. This list includes 121 all-time Academic All-Americans as well as eight Rhodes Scholars. In addition, UT has an estimated 90 percent graduation rate for all student-athletes.

In 2011, 90 student-athletes received their diploma. Additionally, a total of 160 UT student-athletes were named to Academic All-Big 12 teams in Spring and Fall 2011, and 272 student-athletes earned Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll recognition in Spring 2011. Fifty-sevent percent of student-athletes earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 (4.0 scale) or better in Spring 2011. This includes 32 Longhorns who registered a perfect 4.0 GPA.

Out of UT's 20 sports programs 16 currently hold a cumulative team GPA of 3.0 or better. For the Spring 2011 semester, all sports combined had a 3.0 GPA. Women’s Track and Field was named the 2010-11 Division I Scholar Team of the Year (3.28 GPA), and Baseball was awarded the highest GPA at the 2011 NCAA Men's College World Series (3.07 GPA).

Twelve UT teams earned a perfect 1,000 Single-Year Academic Progress Rate (APR) for 2009-10. Additionally, nine earned Public Recognition Awards by the NCAA in 2009-10 by earning multiyear APR’s in the top 10 percent of all squads in their respective sports.

The single-most important thing that has happened since we've been at Texas has been the addition of Randa Ryan and her staff to our program. We understand that our first job is to stress the importance of education. I do know because of Randa Ryan and her staff, and the total package they provide for our players, there is no question we have the best academic setup in the country.

Out of all the individual awards I received in college, the one that meant the most to me was being honored at the academic banquet for being on the UT Athletic Director's Honor Roll. I can't say thank you enough to Randa and her staff for the way they helped me develop as a person.
